Clouds

Arnaud Laffond

Clouds is a generative video work from the Seasons project, an installation that explores natural cycles using real-time meteorological data. While Seasons presents a dialogue between the four seasons, Clouds focuses on an element that is both universal and elusive: clouds, the visible witnesses of atmospheric dynamics. The work transforms climatic data into a poetic and evolving visual language. Humidity, pressure, cloud cover, and wind strength feed a generative system in real time, shaping the forms, movements, and textures of the video. The clouds are not represented figuratively; they emerge as shifting masses, luminous flows, accumulations, and dissolutions, conveying the instantaneous state of the sky. Through Clouds, the data becomes tangible. It ceases to be abstract and manifests itself as contemplative images, inviting the viewer to feel the atmosphere rather than analyze it. The artwork offers an immersive experience, where time expands and we observe the slow transformation of a landscape in perpetual flux. Visually, Clouds unfolds a subtle chromatic palette, evolving according to natural light and weather conditions. The forms continually metamorphose, evoking in turn light mists, heavy skies, or suspended horizons. Conceived as an autonomous work yet inseparable from Seasons, Clouds questions our relationship to climate and the environment. It invites us to slow down, to look up, and to perceive the sky as a living, fragile, and ever-changing organism, whose movements silently tell the story of the world. https://www.arnaudlaffond.com/portfolio/clouds/#video https://www.arnaudlaffond.com/portfolio/seasons/#video
