For SCREENS_CONTEXUALIZED_TOKYO A geisha as a signal is processed through analog video synthesizers and re-recorded from a CRT display, introducing instability, distortion, and temporal drift. In this process, the image becomes untethered from its origin. It echoes how Tokyo is often encountered from a distance: through screens, exports, and fragmented representations rather than direct experience. The image flickers between recognition and abstraction, becoming less an icon and more an atmosphere. Created with Tokyo in mind, the piece reflects on the city as a layered media environment where meaning is constantly translated, distorted, and recontextualized. MADE FOR THIS CITY ~ DownsFilms
