*Kaleidoscopic Flare* is a generative artwork in which rectangles, set in organic motion by a Perlin noise algorithm, repeat in symmetry and multiply without end. The work makes full use of the structural character of the central cube, composed of four faces, as its patterns extend their visual territory outward from the center into the two adjacent cubes with precision. Within the layered space that emerges through this process, viewers find themselves peering directly into the interior of an enormous digital kaleidoscope. The trajectories of the rectangles, in constant variation throughout the work, borrow the principle of symmetry to generate unexpected new forms moment by moment, without pause. The movement of the algorithm runs closely parallel to the dynamic flow of the city we inhabit — its ceaseless change shot through with chance. These irregular shapes, blooming within ordered mathematical rules, reveal an unfamiliar beauty born as familiar geometric units intertwine and reflect one another in complex ways. It is my hope that this digital landscape, created where algorithmically designed order and chance intersect, will offer a new visual experience beyond the boundaries of the everyday, and remain in each viewer's mind as the starting point of a small artistic discovery.
