Emokai (百情夜行) は、都市に生きる人々の感情を基にAIによって生み出されたデジタル妖怪の群像です。私たちは日本、ポルトガル、スウェーデンなどの都市で現地の人々にインタビューを行い、その言葉と体験をもとに、街の中に潜む「感情」を収集しました。 制作プロセスは、まず個人の記憶や感情をテキストとして抽出し、AIによって言葉を洗練・再構成します。そのテキストは画像生成や3Dモデル化を経て具現化され、神社、城郭、都市の路地裏といった3Dで記録された場所に依存しながら出現し、監視カメラの映像に重なり合うようにEmokaiたちが現れます。本来は秩序や安全のために設置された視覚装置が、偶発的に都市の夢や人々の感情を映し出してしまう。監視社会の視線が、意図せず「妖怪」という形を召喚します。 ここで立ち現れるイメージは固定されず、常に生成と変容を繰り返します。消費される映像ではなく、都市と身体、テクノロジーのあいだで遂行され続ける「PERFORMED IMAGE」として、都市の無意識を問い直します。 映像制作：emokai project. モーショングラフィックス協力：Nishibori Ayumu Emokai (Hyakujo-Yako) is a collective of digital yokai generated by AI, based on the emotions of people living in cities. We conducted interviews with local residents in cities such as Japan, Portugal, and Sweden, collecting the “emotions” hidden within urban spaces through their words and experiences. The production process begins with extracting personal memories and emotions as text, which AI then refines and reconstructs. These texts are materialized through image generation and 3D modeling, appearing in 3D-recorded spaces such as shrines, castles, and urban back alleys. The Emokai emerge layered onto surveillance camera footage—devices originally installed for order and safety, but which inadvertently reveal the city’s dreams and people’s emotions. In this way, the gaze of a surveillance society unintentionally summons the form of “yokai.” The images that emerge here are never fixed, but constantly regenerate and transform. Rather than consumable images, they function as “PERFORMED IMAGE”—images continuously enacted between city, body, and technology—inviting us to reconsider the unconscious of the urban environment.
